The ‘glamping’ market has certainly exploded over the last few years as more and more people choose to staycation in one of the many and varied stunning camping locations across the UK. There is a lot of choice for the discerning glamper who is looking to immerse themselves in nature, whilst still enjoying a few creature comforts!
At Stone Pit Meadows we hope we have struck the perfect balance. Although we opened formally in 2023, this followed 2 Summers of running 3 fully furnished Bell Tents amongst the wildflowers. The response from guests, who bravely took a punt on a brand-new site, was overwhelming!
Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
The High Weald AONB is a stunning part of the country in which to stay and explore. We have worked hard at maintaining our little corner of it, and most importantly at finding an environmentally sensitive way to share it with guests who are looking for peace and tranquillity, but like a few mod cons. All units are fitted out to a high standard and offer luxury accommodation both inside and out.
Our website proudly displays all the reviews from our first two Seasons. Experience has shown us exactly what guests expect from us and our glamping site, and we are constantly tweaking in response to guest feedback in the hope that we can meet and exceed expectations every time.
Local Attractions
The beauty and calm offered by the site speaks for itself and is often enough for many guests, however for those wishing to adventure a bit farther afield Stone Pit Meadows is surrounded by footpaths, local attractions (including water sports on the River Rother), restaurants and pubs, historic properties, KESR steam train…and only a 20 minute drive to the South Coast.

The History of the Farm
Stone Pit Meadows is a small family run glamping site that opened formally in June 2023, offering 2 Shepherds Huts and 3 Bell Tents. It sits in a tucked away corner of the wider 40 acre farm which has been owned by our family for over 40 years, and for the last few years been laid to vines grown for the award-winning Kent wine producer Chapel Down.
We have spent the past 20 years maintaining, improving and enriching a tucked away area of the farm extending to about 12 acres, which is now the Stone Pit Meadows glamping site. The meadows are full of beautiful wildflowers and boast 3 established ponds (with resident ducks, moorhens and coots) along with access to a beautiful ancient woodland which displays carpets of bluebells, anemones and primroses during Spring.
We are lucky to live in this beautiful location, right in the heart of the High Weald AONB, and take our role as guardians of the land seriously. The philosophy behind Stone Pit Meadows is very much driven by our desire to share this special place, whilst continuing to protect and enhance it into the future. We are very aware of the sensitivity of the area, and the day to day running and management of the site, along with the surrounding meadows, ponds and woodlands reflects our commitment to that philosophy.
The Meadows
Stone Pit Meadows is a 12 acre haven at the bottom of the farm, a safe distance from the farming activity, which comprises meadows, ponds (including a wild swimming pond!) and ancient woodland. This whole area is available for guests to wander, enjoying the peace, isolation and tranquillity that it offers.
Accommodation at Stone Pit Meadows consists of 2 en-suite Shepherds Huts and 3 fully furnished Bell Tents (which share a sparkling Showershack shower and toilet block). The Shepherds Huts and Bell Tents are located in the 2.5 acre meadow (see site map), and from their private seating/firepit areas enjoy views over hops and vines (not to mention amazingly clear skies perfect for night time stargazing). A footpath running through the farm takes visitors along the field boundaries adjacent to the vines, and on to various surrounding villages (and pubs!).
