‘Stone Pit Meadows’ is a 12 acre site consisting of 2 meadows, ponds and ancient woodland. The site is part of a larger farm that is currently mainly laid to vines grown for the award winning Kent wine producer Chapel Down.
Local people have for many years enjoyed wandering the farm and meadows tucked away in this idyllic part of the High Weald AONB. A public footpath running across the farm meanders through vines and hops taking walkers to nearby villages which offer a variety of activities to locals and visitors alike. It is our desire to share this heavenly slice of rural Kent with those wishing to take some time out away from the hustle and bustle.
Make no mistake, despite its rural location Stone Pit Meadows forms part of a working farm with the associated activity. We are, however, lucky enough to be able to take advantage of almost 12 acres of wildflower meadow, established ponds and ancient woodland located in one corner of the farm. This area is not part of the working area of the farm so guests will be situated a comfortable distance away from the farming activity. Whilst the Bell Tents are tucked away they still enjoy far reaching views over hops and vines... which in July and August are really at their best. Visitors are asked to respect the working practices of the farmer and not to place themselves in danger by wandering in amongst the vines, and please don’t pick the grapes! The footpath running through the farm does, however, takes visitors along the field boundary adjacent to the vines.
In Summer 2021 we are ‘soft launching’ Stone Pit Meadows for 2 months only (July and August) with our 3 brand new ‘Stone Pit Belles’. These are 3 Bell Tents spread out for privacy across the wildflower meadow, each enjoying views over ponds, vines and woodland. Little Cosy is our 4m Bell Tent, and she is complemented by Anemone and Bluebell, our 5m Bell Tents. Each tent is fully equipped with double/kingsized bed, furnishings, cool box etc. Outside, each tent has its own seating area and firepit for al fresco cooking and dining. There is a brand new wooden shower and toilet unit, supplied by Showershack, located a short walk from the accommodation, and shared by the 3 tents.
The site this year is adults only, with one well behaved dog allowed per tent staying free of charge. Whilst the site is ‘off grid’ so has no electricity, with lights etc running off solar, there is access to mains water via a standpipe. Cars are parked at the entrance to the meadow a short walk from the Bell Tents
We will be offering a small variety of hampers stocked with local produce for guests at SPM. There will be options for breakfast and dinner with local meats sourced for BBQ’s on the firepit and grill provided to each tent. Visitors will be contacted a week before their booking to confirm if they would like to order a hamper and put in any special requests!
You can book either by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 07786 651561 to confirm availability and to reserve your Bell Tent. 20% deposit will be required at the time of booking with the balance collected a week before your stay. If you cancel within 2 weeks of your stay the deposit will be refunded. No refunds can be issued within a week of the booking. A breakages deposit of £50 cash will be requested on arrival and returned when you leave further to a quick check of your Bell Tent.
Please let us know if you have any special requirements or would like us to make any additional arrangements to ensure that your stay is extra special.
